Meet the Team

Jayne Minear - Lead Counsellor

Lighthouse Recovery is led by Jayne Minear, who is a qualified counsellor specialising in alcohol and other drug (AOD) support, mental health, and wellbeing. She is committed to providing a safe, confidential, and compassionate space where individuals can explore challenges, build confidence, and move toward meaningful, sustainable change.

Jayne’s counselling approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, trauma-informed care, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. She works collaboratively with clients to understand the root causes of their concerns, develop practical coping strategies, and strengthen resilience. Her practice focuses on meeting clients exactly where they are — without judgement and with genuine empathy.

Jayne supports clients experiencing challenges related to:

  • Alcohol and other drug use

  • Stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Trauma and life transitions

  • Family and relationship difficulties

  • Grief, loss, and emotional overwhelm

  • Goal-setting, behaviour change, and personal growth

With experience across community health, support services, and therapeutic settings, Jayne understands the complex realities people face and the importance of holistic, person-centred care. She believes that change is possible for everyone, and that counselling can be a powerful pathway to clarity, connection, and improved wellbeing.

Jayne is known for her calm presence, thoughtful communication, and unwavering commitment to supporting clients with dignity and respect. She works to empower individuals to take manageable steps forward — building confidence, capability, and long-term wellbeing.

Tia Russell - Counsellor

Tia is a gentle, collaborative counsellor who supports young people and adults as they navigate anxiety, depression, overwhelm, life transitions, and the everyday challenges that can feel too heavy to manage alone. Her approach is warm, patient, and strengths‑based, creating a space where clients feel supported, understood, and never judged.

As an ACA Level 2 registered counsellor with a Bachelor of Counselling, Tia draws on evidence‑based modalities including CBT, solution‑focused practice, and strengths‑based approaches. She works alongside clients rather than directing them, helping them build practical tools, regulate emotions, and move through difficult moments with clarity and confidence.

Tia’s experience spans a range of community and youth‑focused roles. She has provided early‑intervention emotional support at Ski for Life, facilitated a 5‑week bullying support program for teens, and worked in inclusive coaching and wellbeing settings. Her background in inclusive swim instruction and junior sports coaching has shaped her ability to connect naturally with young people. Many teens and young adults find it easy to open up to her, often sharing that her age and approachability make counselling feel safe and relatable rather than clinical or intimidating.

What drives Tia’s work is a deep commitment to creating access to support that feels genuinely safe, a space where people can talk openly, feel understood, and know they don’t have to navigate their struggles alone. She brings steadiness, compassion, and evidence‑based guidance to every session, offering clients a grounded presence as they move toward meaningful change.
